Exhibitors may enter only those items made during the current year and within the project in which they are currently enrolled. (Publications and Projects EM2778)
Age Divisions
PRIMARY: K through 2nd grade: Check carefully information for Division 571.
JUNIOR: 3rd through 5th grade.
INTERMEDIATE: 6th through 8t grade.
SENIOR: 9th through 12th grade.
4-H still life entries will be received Wednesday, July 21 from 3pm to 8pm.
Retrieve exhibits on Sunday July 25th after 6pm. Vehicles will not be allowed to enter the fairgrounds until after 7pm. All exhibits MUST be checked out with the 4-H Fair Clerks before removal from building, your receipt must be presented to retrieve exhibits.
4-H exhibitors shall not be limited in number of entries in any one division/class unless stated specifically in the division or class. Entries must show a difference. Due to space constraints, exhibits will be displayed as space is available, and may be displayed in other areas. At the discretion of Judge and/or Superintendent an exhibit may be changed to a different class to provide the best recognition for exhibit or to correct errors made at time of entry.
Division 570 ~ Exhibitmanship
Good care of your exhibiting space and building is your responsibility that comes with the privilege of participating. All exhibitors are required to schedule time that demonstrates respect of the heritage of the 4-H Still Life building.Exceptions: PRIMARY and those only exhibiting a record book. Volunteer adults may schedule anytime to monitor, oversee, help in skill levels, provide support and recognize every 4-H exhibitor who maintains adequate exhibitmanship. Members may begin to sign up for an exhibitmanship time slot when they submit entries.
Division 571 ~ Primary Age Exhibits

This is a noncompetitive division for all primary 4-H project areas. All entries will receive a special participation ribbon. Primary ages K-2nd grades, must be 5 years of age before Jan. 1 of current year and enrolled in a kindergarten program. Follow individual project guidelines for fair entries. Parents: please allow extra time in your schedule. A short question and answer interview will take place with each exhibit entry into the building.
Animal Sciences
Division 572 ~ Handmade Project
All 4-H handmade items that are suitable for use with other projects are allowed. Suggested items: animal blankets, feed pans, tack boxes, lead ropes, trail bags, show sticks, agility equipment, etc. A 3x5 card telling about the exhibit: what the item is, how it will be used, project you will use it with, what you did, what was learned, and how you will maintain the item is recommended. Exhibits are judged based on workmanship, how it will be used, and appearance. When judging is completed, exhibit can be removed for display in appropriate area or barn.

Open to all members enrolled with current year work. Specimens must be properly treated, labeled, and placed securely in a covered container. Posters may be entered under Educational Displays in any Division/Class. Scrapbook, notebook, or journal should have a cover page with name, age, and club name. Scoring based on content, originality, pertinence to animal health, and attractiveness of exhibit.

Division 574 ~ Taste of 4-H Exhibit

1. One entry per exhibitor all members enrolled in self determined animal sciences or explore the world of small animals project.
2. If an animal is part of the exhibit, the animal, by its circumstances, must be unable to be shown in an existing current year and within the project in which they are currently enrolled.
3. Notebooks and photographs documenting activities and experiences in the self-determined project may be a part of this display.
4. Your entry must be larger in scope with unique information that demonstrate knowledge gained and a variety of project activities.
5. All entries must receive prior approval from the 4-H building superintendent.
6. All animals must be vet checked by 8:00am Friday morning prior to being put on display.
7. Exhibitors of live animals will provide their own escape proof cages, aquariums or containers for animals being exhibited.
8. Cages/Containers and exhibit area will be cleaned daily by the exhibitor.
9. Class 1, Live animal exhibits will be in place by 10am on Friday.
10. Still life exhibits will be entered on Tues from 3pm to 8pm.

Applied and Fine Arts Rules:
Members may enter no more than 8 total entries with no more than 3 entries in any one class. Wearable art entries must be non-machine sewn art work. All entries intended to be displayed by hanging, must be prepared by matting and/or framing. A hanging devise must be securely attached in the position intended to be viewed by fair visitors. Each entry must be accompanied by a 3x5 card, with age of member, years in project, how it was made, and any special techniques used.

All entries in all classes must be pictures taken by the exhibitor during the current year. All exhibits must be attached to poster board, matting or suitable substitute. Framed entries and non-mounted entries will not be accepted. Completed WSU label C0890 must be attached to the bottom of all photos as instructed on the label. Incomplete or missing label, exhibit may be dropped one ribbon placing and may not be displayed. Digital pictures may not be manipulated in any way. Scorecard C00064 WS4HF/9.53b will be used to judge all entries, and judged against a standard as defined on scorecard.

All finished pictures must not be smaller than 5x7 and no larger than 8x10. B&W photo needs to be printed in gray scale. All exhibits must be printed on photographic paper, no copy paper accepted. Original image must be part of the mounted display, on the front of the exhibit for comparison. A typed card must be part of the mounted display on the front of the exhibit matte explaining what was done to arrive at the final image and photography label C0890 must be attached as instructed. Original image, finished image and index card must all be mounted on a poster board not larger than 14x22. Scorecard C1041 will be used to judge entries, against a standard as defined on the scorecard.

Entries open to all members enrolled with current year work. Any information, pictures, items or educational materials collected on consumer life skills that demonstrate knowledge gained may enter.
Foods & Nutrition
All exhibits must have a 3"X5" card with neatly copied recipe. All entries must demonstrate knowledge gained from projects in which the 4-H member is currently enrolled. No two entries may be the same product in any one class. Alcoholic products are not to be used in any food product exhibit. Deliver dried foods in plastic bags, cooked foods on paper plates, and in plastic bags. Bags may be either self-sealing (ziplock) or closed with a twist tie. After judging, the Superintendent will transfer food products to display containers. Only the ribbon, recipe, and score sheet will be returned at the end of fair. Cooked: entries may be made from a prepared mix or separate ingredients. Include 1/4 of a cake, 1/4 of a loaf of bread, or 1/4 of a pie per entry. Include four cookies, rolls, or buns per entry. Do not enter cream filled or chifon pies, cream based or uncooked products. Exception: cream cheese frostings and glazes that are high in sugar content will be accepted for entry. Preserved: Processing methods and times must follow current Washington State University and USDA recommendations. Guidelines available at 4-H office, call 427-9670 ext. 691. All canned products must be exhibited in standard canning jars, sealed with flat metal lids, with screw bands removed. All canned exhibits must be labeled with C0803 (available from your extension office).
Indicate "hot" or "raw" pack on canned food exhibit labels. Please provide 1/4 cup of dried food product for exhibit and judging. Prepare a label, C0804, and attach to the bag used to deliver the food products.

Division 617 ~ Weeds
Identify by common and scientific names.
Specimens of each class should be mounted or displayed in a manner showing individual
identification and location. The recommended control for the weed should be listed if the exhibitor has been in the project for more than 2 years.

Entomology Project
Exhibits open to all members enrolled in dairy, entomology, garden, home grounds, and livestock projects. Exhibitors may enter only one of these classes, but may enter one exhibit in each class of that division. All exhibits must be labeled to give the order and common name of insects in the collection and scientific name to as many as possible. All work and labeling should be that of the exhibitor.

Open to all 4-H Members with current year enrollment. Intermediate and Seniors only may take a blue ribbon on to State. Categories in the State 4-H Premium Book may be entered. Twenty minutes scheduled including set up, presentation, question period, comments from judges and removal of equipment.
Exhibitors are expected to provide their own equipment, The presentation should include the promotion of the commodity, cultural, historical and nutritional aspects as well as economic impact of the commodity on our State. The recipes used in the presentation must be turned in to the commodity superintendent prior to the presentation.

Division 630 ~ Fashion Revue
FASHION REVUE RULES: Pre-register with department superintendent or WSU office at (360) 427-9670 ext.691 one week prior to show. Contestants may enter only those items made during the current 4-H year and within the 4-H projects in which they are enrolled. Garments may be entered in either Fashion Revue or as an exhibit, but not both. Unless being modeled, all garments in this contest must remain on exhibit during the fair. The outfit entered in the Fashion Revue must be made and modeled for the judges by the contestant. Judging will be on appearance, modeling, and knowledge of garment. Contestant must be present for both judging and public performance. Care labels are to be sewn in all garments, or 3”x 5” card with care instructions must accompany entry. Friday @ 7pm.
Division 631 ~ Creative Consumers of Fashion
Rules: Pre-register with department superintendent or WSU office at (360) 427-9670 ext.691 one week prior to show. Outfit consists of garments & accessories purchased by the contestant and/or remodeled or recycled clothing. Complete data sheet & photo must be provided. Pre-register for a time slot during the fair or when still life entries are submitted. Club groups may be limited due to space constraints. Members must bring everything needed: Fabric construction activity should include a care label or 3x5 card with care instructions. Create and work on something such as: drama, instrument, birdhouse, sew or knit a dog coat.
Division 636 ~ Special Interest
The special interest programs division is for youth involved in Mason County 4-H Day camps, 4-H School Enrichment, and 4-H After School programs. Entries are to be still-life exhibits entered in building 22. Classes to be determined at the discretion of the superintendent and/or judge. Skill levels will be defined as: Simple (basic skill level), Complex (intermediate skill level), and Advanced (advanced variety of skills).
